Resource Discovery using Ontology Approach in Grid Environment

Grid technologies enable the sharing of a wide variety of distributed resources. To utilize these resources, effective Resource Management systems are needed. Resource Management system performs resource discovery to obtain information about the available resources. The most challenging task in Grid environment is to manage the heterogeneous resources which needs an Automatic Grid Resource Discovery approach. Realizing this revelation requires a machine understandable resource description and powerful correlation mechanism. Semantic technologies provide vocabularies with explicitly defined, unambiguously understandable and automatically machine-interpretable meanings, which make the process of automatic resource brokerage possible. In this paper, we have discussed various Resource Discovery approaches and exhaustive comparison of Syntax based Resource Discovery with Semantics based Resource Discovery is presented. Besides this Semantic Resource Discovery Architecture is discussed that uses Ontology based framework to discover resources in Grid environment.
